Our Hospitality Opportunities (Suites below)
Since the founding of the Monastery in 1992, we have offered hospitality to those who wish to experience monastic life here. Hospitality is one of the hallmarks of our Monastic way of life, and an essential practice reflecting the ancient monastic tradition of welcoming guests, and especially from the point of view of our founder Saint Benedict, to welcome them as Christ.
At the Monastery, most of our Monastic Life Experience accommodations are typically for one person, and an atmosphere of gentle but profound silence pervades the Monastery grounds.
A key element of any Monastic Life Experience is spaciousness. We provide private suites for solitary prayer, reading and meditation.
Additionally, the welcoming space of the chapel, which is open 12 hours a day for communal and individual prayer and meditation, affords a spectacular vista of the Coastal Hills, and surrounding nature, all conducive to contemplation.
We offer people of all faiths the experience of engaging in something larger than oneself and resting in the One who loves each of us infinitely.
In the interest of maintaining a silent and contemplative atmosphere, retreatants are asked to refrain from using radios, typewriters, or musical instruments. Pets are not permitted.
Overnight stays for monastic hospitality can be from 1 nights to 7 nights in length.
We charge a $120 first night deposit upon reservation, and will refund if you decide to cancel.
We currently have three Hospitality Suites available for your Monastic Life Experience: St. Benedict, St. Romuald & St. Scholastica.
All overnight accommodations include access to the Chapel, Patio, Conference Area, use of the labyrinth and Way of the Cross meditation walks, hiking trails, library and grounds and free parking. Book and Gift store hours vary.
While on retreat at the monastery, we do not provide meals. You have at your disposal a microwave and small refrigerator in your suite, along with a hot-pot . Patrons can bring foods they enjoy or go off property to the nearby restaurants, of which there are many in SLO, Morro Bay and Los Osos.
PETS
While we would love to accommodate pets, unfortunately we have a NO PETS POLICY due to the difficulty of cleaning and maintaining the rooms. We appreciate your understanding.
